Technology of our "Carbon Heater" waterbed heating system

100% optimum safety through continuous quality testing
The "Carbon Heater" waterbed heating system has 4 independently operating safety responses. First, the carbon heating element is equipped with a PTC (positive temperature coefficient) resistor. This ensures that the heating element cannot overheat and that so-called "hot spots" are a thing of the past. As a second safety device, a mechanical temperature limiter is incorporated into the heating element. If the Carbon Heater should be inadvertently switched on while the waterbed is not filled with water, the limiter switches the heating element off at 75ºC. And two intelligent safety elements are also contained in the processor of the thermostat unit. One continually monitors the individual electronic components, the contacts and the heating element as a whole. If the processor should identify a fault, it shuts down the complete heating system. The other protects the waterbed heating from power surges from the mains, e.g. in the case of a lightning strike. This safety package is further backed up by the system watertightness in conformity with the IP67 standard. The complete production process is continuously monitored. Through the exacting safety concept and the start-of-the-art production standard, all Carbon Heater models have been awarded the TÜV "Tested Safety" certificate.

100% low radiation through barely measurable electrical and magnetic fields
Through the technology of a one-piece carbon heating element combined with the aluminium shield, the magnetic fields are reduced to less than 6 nT; the "Carbon Heater" is therefore well over 10,000 times below the permitted level for people fitted with pacemakers (65,000 nT). The electrical field strengths of the "Carbon Heater" range from 2 V/m to 6 V/m, depending on model and version. The electrical field level permitted in Germany currently stands at 5,000 V/m. The very low levels emitted by the Carbon Heater are confirmed by the EMC certificate (electromagnetic compatibility) issued by TÜV-Süd on the strength of very strict testing.

100% energy efficiency through maximum energy utilisation and innovative technology
As the water temperature is continuously electronically monitored, the Carbon Heater only switches on when the temperature falls below the pre-set value, and it only continues heating until the desired temperature is reached once more. As well as a 0.9999 efficiency level for the carbon heating element, the latest-generation electronic SMD components ensure unrivalled energy efficiency.

100% optimum temperature regulation
The temperature of the analogue thermostat unit can be set from 25ºC to 35ºC in 0.33ºC steps. On the new "iq Carbon" model, the digital control unit allows the temperature to be easily adjusted from 24ºC to 36ºC in 0.1ºC steps. Top-quality electronic components ensure that the temperature only deviates from the setting by +-0.1ºC at most.

100% optimum compatibility and environmental friendliness
The materials of the waterbed Carbon Heater are designed for complete compatibility with your bed and are all in conformity with the applicable standards and guidelines. Additionally, through the ideal size of the heating element, we reach a gentle surface temperature of never more than 45ºC to 47ºC during the heating-up phase. Consequently, the heating element cannot become bonded to the protective film, and hardening of the water core through plasticizer migration can also be ruled out. We naturally pay the greatest attention to the environment and its protection. In the choice of the materials, therefore, recyclability and minimization of the environmental impact are major criteria.

100% reliability through state-of-the-art production processes
The entire production process is conducted in Germany in compliance with quality standards that apply to the automotive and medical equipment industries. The controls for the thermostat unit consist of shockproof SMD components and are subjected to 100% incircuit computer testing. They are capable of withstanding high tension of over 8,000 volts. The carbon layer of the heating element is laminated between two polyester films and is therefore highly flexible and robust. Through the double insulation, the heater is easily able to withstand tension of more than 2 x 2,000 volts. In contrast to other similar heating systems, the heating element of the "Carbon Heater" is not vulcanized at over 200ºC but welded at room temperature using high-frequency technology. Consequently, the electronic components in the heating element have not been subjected to high thermal stress and therefore have a significantly longer service life.
